Captain's Readings

So the readings have been very interesting and scientific. The techniques and discoveries that scientists have made on what happens with the body and the mind during 8 hours of sleep is something that seems out of this world. I mean during the day you don't feel your body going through different changes and your brain going through different brain wave stages, but during the night is like wow your muscles and brain react differently. Like a computer in sleep mode and a bunch of wires still sending messages and power through the processor. It's all very cool stuff and we are still learning a lot in class, but going in depth with the notion of sleep and seeing what happens to the body and why it is important can really change your prospective in sleep and help you make better sleeping habits. Because I know that I need to get better sleeping habits and that can help you change in how you go about things during the day and how to be more productive.

    I agree that what our mind is doing at night is truly amazing. What really astonishes me is that the experts on sleep cannot tell us why sleep is necessary or the details of what goes on in our minds at night. I would think such an important part of human life would be a little better understood.
